Richard Zare, PhD is Chairman, Department of Chemistry & Howard Hughes Medical Institute Professor, Stanford University and a Member of the US National Academy of Sciences, Royal Society of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Swedish Royal Academy.

Dr. Zare is also a Director of the Dreyfus Foundation and is or has been Chair of the President's National Medal of Science, National Research Council Commission, and National Science Board. Dick Zare has received the National Medal of Science, National Academy of Sciences Award in Chemical Sciences, National Science Board's Distinguished Service Award, Centennial Medal of Harvard University, the Welch Award in Chemistry, and Royal Society of Chemistry Faraday Medal. Dr. Zare has 700-publications and 50-patents.

Previously, he was part of the co-founding teams at Affymetrics and Affymax, Biospect, now Predictant, Catalytica, Cepheid, Fluidigm, Informed Diagnostics, now Picarro and Pharmacyclics.
